So many books, so little time. I definitely used a few long flights to read & really enjoyed the books I read. I’ll call it: lean into important, essential (and possibly challenging) topics to grapple with.Ā

Likeable Badass: How Women Get the Success They Deserve ByĀ Alison FragaleĀ

This book provides a new way to look at some of the challenges that women face in the workplace, including actionable recommendations.Ā

šŸ“˜ Telling a strong story isn’t about being quick on your feet. It’s about thoughtful preparation & practice.Ā

ā€¼ļø Use your long-term priorities to guide today’s decisions.Ā

ā¤ļø Looking at the full picture of your life - where are you, who’s with you, what you are doing - helps you make decisions today toward that future.Ā

😔 The important reminder of the ā€œmotherhood penaltyā€ (which I’ve lived lately) & the truth about how best to guide our choices in life.Ā

šŸ¤” The idea of ā€œfractional mentorsā€ - and our shared responsibility in mentoring those around us.Ā

———-

ā€œLet’s Talk About It: Turning Confrontation into Collaboration at Workā€ byĀ Dr. Paul MarcianoĀ

ā‰ļø What if we changed our mindset from telling ourselves we must face a difficult conversation to believing we have the skills to engage in a healthy conversation?Ā

šŸ’Æ A productive conversation takes place when both people speak & listen to each other. The issue gets resolved promptly & both people leave the interaction feeling complete and move on without resentment.Ā

ā‰ļø Are you more committed to avoiding conflict or having a healthy relationship?Ā

😳 The concept of ā€œreactive devaluationā€ — the idea that we devalue proposals made by those we consider adversaries. (Note: This connects with my suggestion that we can’t have heroes & villains at work … imagine how much collaboration we could have if there were less ā€œadversariesā€ around us?)

🤯 A truly dangerous mindset is to believe you have the best answer.

āļø Ambiguity is the enemy of a productive conversation.Ā

Burnout Immunity: How Emotional Intelligence Can Help You Build Resilience & Heal Your Relationship with Work byĀ Kandi WiensĀ

I love this framework around burnout immunity & leveraging emotional intelligence. Let’s be honest - EQ is a tool that impacts all aspects of our life.

āļø Burnout immunity skills:

(1) Awareness

(2) RegulationĀ

(3) Meaningful connection

(4) Mindset

(5) Recover, Reconnect, and Reimagine

šŸ’Æ When your individual values are incompatible with your organization’s demonstrated values, you’re in a situation that leaves you vulnerable to burnout.

āļø Toxic workers spread their negative emotions and harmful behavior to others.

4ļøāƒ£ main elements that fuel and maintain a positive outlook: positive emotions, self-efficacy, optimism, & hope.

ā€¼ļø Remove ā€œjoy crushersā€ from work

4ļøāƒ£ vital mindsets for acquiring burnout immunity: Positive outlook, Stress-is-enhancing, Servant leader, & Aware and care mindset

There is SO much practical tools in this book

Not sure which solution fits?

Sometimes the challenge does not fit neatly into a service category.

That is fine.

We can start with the problem you are trying to solve, the leaders or teams involved, and what you want to be different. From there, we can determine whether the right answer is a workshop, coaching, an academy, facilitated work with a team, organizational consulting or a combination.

Start with the challenge. We’ll help you design the right response.
