Becoming the person you mean to be

Yesterday was cardio day in my workout program (Megan Glide Villasenor - I actually did the cardio workout) AND I have a goal to average 3.25 miles a day running in December. I did the cardio first & then hopped on the treadmill for my run. I was miserable. I realized what I wanted was less cardio & more weights.
When I started my fitness journey a few decades ago, a cardio workout was all I did. I remember talking with my fit friends about wanting to be someone who liked to lift weights. Lots of advice … all that boiled down to … start somewhere.
And somewhere along the way, I did become that person who likes to lift weights. This felt like a relevant analogy to so many things in life & leadership development for me.
This week I was reading my most recent Reflected Best Self stories. Some were connected back to when I first started intentionally developing as a leader. Some have been built by developing new habits. Others are actively worked on every day.
One of my favorite quotes, attributed to George Eliot, is: It's never too late to be what you might have been.
❓Who do you want to be as a leader?
❓What is one habit that can help you become that leader?
❓What is one thing you can do today to build that habit?
