📚 2024 Week #4 Reading Summary…

✔️ The Keeper of Hidden Books by Madeline Martin

Set in Poland during World War II; I appreciate a historical fiction that inspires a great story. I learned about Poland in new ways. (Fiction)

✔️ Predictably Irrational: The Hidden Forces that Shape Our Decisions by Dan Ariely

Recommended by Nadeem Syed I listened to this and kept going back to re-listen so ideas would stick. We don’t know ourselves or others as well as we think we do. The danger of mixing market and social norms will stick with me, as well as designing around real people (ourselves included, not our ideals. (Non fiction)

✔️ Life in Five Senses: How Exploring the Senses Got Me Out of my Head & Into the World by Gretchen Rubin

This book was not one I would normally pick up, but I like the author & so does Allison M. Vaillancourt It helped me better understand why I love the smell & flavor rooibos tea (which reminds me of adventures studying in Russia), almond pastries (which remind me of sitting on the beach in Maui, after a productive week and making memories with friends Megan Glide Villasenor & grocery store sugar cookies (which make me think of when Alison Kamataris manages to get them to me while I was deployed for my birthday. For me those cookies taste like care and friendship). (Nonfiction)

✔️ The Boldly Inclusive Leader: Transform Your Workplace (and the World) by Minette Norman

I appreciate a lot about this book - and the intersection of empathy, compassion & admitting and owning mistakes through curiosity was especially powerful. (Nonfiction)
